In at 7:30 to Women’s Club home with last minute things for staging and managed to work until 1:00 poured rain all morning. put up markers around walk after it stopped. Re-did sign that had run in the rain. Made markers for each of the 35 classes in the show really used my calligraphy.

Home about 2:00 worked on chapter 6 County officials. Mary was photographer for show took some at 11:00 a.m. – winners at 3:00.

Wrote chapters 9 10 and 11 of Courthouse book and got them off to Marlene Stork for type setting in Cincinnati. In to Marion to meet Mary and transfer mother’s money market to a rental checking account we each got $1,415 after paying for siding for Mother’s house.

Picked up ladders at Henry Lumber and then to Women’s Club home to “stage” Garden Forum flower show. Paid Todd Eckberry $10 to help carry. Used calligraphy to make signs for 35 classes. Met Cliff Mitchell here at 9:00 and gave him 75 pictures to copy for Courthouse book.

Talked to Marlene Stork who will type set Marion County Courthouse from my disk in Cincinnati. Have to remove all dot commands and hard carriage returns. Spent all day redoing all files through chapter 5. Pipped* them to another disk and copied but too late to mail today. Finished about 10:00 p.m.

Set out last of impatiens in bed by compost pile.

Mary took Dave to canoe camp at Camp Judson.

In to Historical Society at 8:00 to wait for telephone installation. Ray Foerst came and gave $85 estimate on installing front door and hanging huge 1950s photo.

To courthouse Centennial committee meeting at 10:00 held on 4th floor in witness room- never been up there. At 11:45 to Bob Stout’s office to sign final papers on mother’s estate. Since we are spending $4,000 to have mother’s house aluminum sided Mary and I will each receive about $1,500 in cash from the estate. Took maps to board meeting and sold 50.

Dave and I to Indianapolis to attend Barb Parker Richardson’s wedding to John ____. Only the family in the Methodist Church parlor. Met Barb’s mother and stepfather who had disowned Barb after divorce from Joe and two sisters and brother and families. To friend’s house for luncheon and reception. Gave her two sets of towels. We were we were stand-ins for Kathi.

Stopped to visit Shorty* in Fountain City- she took us to dinner and then back to her mobile home- still crowded with magazines, papers, Etc. Shorty looks thinner and says Don has to retire this year but doesn’t want to.
