Howard helped me dig sweet potatoes- got about a peck but decided to wait until it rains and softens soil.

Picked up some to get ready for visit from June and George Ulle here from Shellington, Pennsylvania. Mary and Ken brought them out about 4:00. Toured garden and then drove around to my pawpaw patch across the river- actually found about six nice pawpaws not quite ripe.

Had ham and broccoli and cantaloupe and ice cream. Mary brought baked beans and potato salad. Nice visit. George doesn’t say much but astute observer when he does.

Dave ran out of gas on his way home from Music Company rehearsal. Mary took him to car but he couldn’t get it started so it sat on edge of road all night.

Manned Awards table display instead of going to OHS annual meeting. Bill Nolan said Ness and Phillip Shriver both praised OAHSM Awards program. Attended Don Hutsler’s Log Cabin presentation and how to use OHS library for research. in P.M., Dr Franklin, negro educator a forceful speaker. Then moderated the genealogy session with Vicki Arnold. She mostly boosted Miami Valley Conference November 9th-10th. Norm and Donna Ruth Fogt and Marguerite Martin attended. Herb Gary, Dick West and Ken from Harding properties attended yesterday.

Home at 5:30 and Dave gone into Marion. I don’t like him shooting the loop but like even less his hanging out at parking lot at Church and Prospect.

Registered at Red Roof Inn- $25 single- before going to Ohio Historical Society. Checked in with Julie at Local History Office. She had also purchased frames for the extra Awards and got a large one and had Dr. Gary Ness award letter matted. At 4:00 Carol Cunningham of Slate Run Farm arrived with news that her photographer that she had volunteered to take pictures of Award winners died last night. So Jean Suchonski [?] took a few.

Everyone very complimentary on the presentations and I got to meet about half of the awardees as they took places on front row. Herbert Roush and wife invited me to spend the night in the night 1789 house! and they would personally tour Blennerhasset Island with me. He is doing a documentary on the rebuilding of the mansion.

Cocktail party and dinner on the green at Ohio Village an anti-climax but Ohio Village singers delightful.
