At shop all day on phone with Nell and Wanda. Nell left about 1:00 going on a retreat with her daughter-in-law.

Realized we didn’t have enough plants since Engel’s didn’t leave our mum order so I went to Wonder Gardens West of Mansfield to pick up some. Mary called while I was gone. They got home about 5:30. June Uhle came with them for a visit. Have been gone since April 9th.

On phone all day at shop.

Just got home from work when Chuck Eckleberry called and wanted to come out to rake me over the coals for asking Norma for a doctor’s statement that she needed to be off a week. told him none of us had ever been off more than 2 days for a D&C and she should have told us more about her case if she didn’t want to supply doctor’s statement.

He asked me to call Norma and apologize!! I called her.

To Urbana for Region 6 meeting. Dominated by Joyce Alig with absolutely no program planned except having each person introduce themselves. About 35 there surprisingly. No lunch provided but gave us officers a chance to commiserate on Joyce’s presentation for recruiting a new Regional representative in her place. Told them it would cost them $300 to $400 a year! Naturally no one volunteered. I couldn’t take it and refuted her figures and testified to the personal satisfaction.

Royce to clean. After 2 years she still can’t get the windows out to wash them. Set out snaps and dug hosta for Plant Exchange at Town & Country Garden Club meeting at Elizabeth Jester’s. 50th anniversary. Took corsages for Edna Jennings, Hazel Sonenstein and Fauss Holley. Charter members.

Kass asked me to come to shop. Norma won’t be back next week. No one else ever had a week off with a D&C! A slowdown on her part in retaliation for forcing Linda out. Mary Waggle also wanted to talk with me. Norma home from hospital yesterday and called her at 10:00 and talked for an hour- can’t get along without Linda helping to file. Kass found Faith Evanoski to work 4 days. She does bookkeeping for her husband.

Dave at Dick Cooper’s. Home at 6:00. Had cube steak, boiled potatoes, steamed ferns, rhubarb. Watched TV.

Total rain 2″ Needed so badly. No corn up when I went to Quest Club guest day luncheon but when I came home there were three fields with rows showing.

To Bob Stout’s office to pick up land contract. Then to shop to get plants ordered from Reese’s Sunbury. $80 including $30 for Garden Forum and Town & Country Civic plannings. Dave had picked up some of them for me. He was in bed sleeping when I got home. Has been building scenery for prom.

I went down to The Toggery to tell them he wouldn’t need tuxedo ordered but couldn’t get $10 refund back. Shopped at Penney’s- got two new style sweaters $20 to $22, blouse $24 and two pair bendover pants on sale $11.50. Also got navy and white dress $31 and sweater $44 at Bentz.

Put $6,400 check in Home Federal money market fund.

To Columbus with David after checking in at shop. Linda Glenn going to Allstate Insurance with a relative. Tried not to show my elation.

Met Don Wells- David’s salesman and he told me what a great son I have. He and John Naylor and David busy all day with explaining TerraForms. I invited their wives or children to the computer to see how easy it was- Bet my prospects will be easiest to sell!

Rained all day- slow and gentle 1 1/4 inches.

David and I to genealogy meeting. Cemetery book distributed. Note to call Kass. Mary and Carolyn told her that Norma Eckleberry planted the unpaid unpaid ledger card in the file and then blamed it on Phyllis. Told them she was going to do it. Phyllis crying all day because she tries so hard. Linda told Mary Waggle she was a fool to work for $3.60 an hour when Linda was getting $4. How does Linda know what Mary gets?

Mailed 537 flyers- Courthouse book, Puzzlerama and Hildreth and 1929 Marion County history.

Ron Laippley called about 10:30 saying the cemetery book would be delivered today.

Planted sweet corn, cantaloupe and zucchini across road.

In at 2:00 to pick up land contract that Joe Fields attorney had prepared and took to Bob Stout. Found no provision for paying accrued interest not paid if he prepays the contract $64,000 in 12 years $5,000 a year $6,400 down. Also had inked out my right to okay any subleasing or selling the contract! Bob will fix and have ready tomorrow but we signed (in Cheryl’s name only) and they gave me the $6,400.

Took 200 Cemetery books to Maxine Marshall. David home from Ohio Funeral Directors convention about 10:00 pretty beat. Wish I had better bed than the living room sofa for him.

Kass found note from Linda Glenn on her desk saying she has another job giving two weeks notice and saying she will take her vacation next week. Employees handbook says no vacation week before a holiday.
