Dave in to deliver at 8:15 and I was in by 9:15 on phone and routing. Took 200 Lily of the Valley in and sold them all in bouquets with sweethearts or miniature carnations. Asked Dave to bring me something from the spread in the kitchen and he was very insulted and uncooperative. Made me so ashamed for him to talk to me like that in front of the employees “Well, excuse ME” etc. I took three deliveries to Monette Road Martel and Kile’s. Terry said about 270 deliveries on both Friday and Saturday. Kass said last night had $4,000 in cash with all March bills paid April utilities paid. First time we have been caught up since last October.

Mary and Ken out with June Uhle about 7:30- walked in woods with first mosquitoes. Had ice cream. June thinks Kathi really loves Bob to let him dominate her so.

Dave to Columbus to Trinity Persuit [sic] party.

In to work at 9:00. Wanda and I handled the phones alone- had to let them ring occasionally. I sent 60 orders out on the Mercury* in 2 hours.

Met Mary, Ken and June at Turoff’s for supper. They had stopped in the shop for a few minutes. Dead tired.

Had to send back to Wonder Gardens for more plans. $350 this time.

Julie Hardy called to say Don wanted to come out to draw plan of greenhouse they were delighted with Greenhouse books I loaned them.

[*FTD machine to send orders to other florists]

At shop all day on phone with Nell and Wanda. Nell left about 1:00 going on a retreat with her daughter-in-law.

Realized we didn’t have enough plants since Engel’s didn’t leave our mum order so I went to Wonder Gardens West of Mansfield to pick up some. Mary called while I was gone. They got home about 5:30. June Uhle came with them for a visit. Have been gone since April 9th.

On phone all day at shop.

Just got home from work when Chuck Eckleberry called and wanted to come out to rake me over the coals for asking Norma for a doctor’s statement that she needed to be off a week. told him none of us had ever been off more than 2 days for a D&C and she should have told us more about her case if she didn’t want to supply doctor’s statement.

He asked me to call Norma and apologize!! I called her.

To Urbana for Region 6 meeting. Dominated by Joyce Alig with absolutely no program planned except having each person introduce themselves. About 35 there surprisingly. No lunch provided but gave us officers a chance to commiserate on Joyce’s presentation for recruiting a new Regional representative in her place. Told them it would cost them $300 to $400 a year! Naturally no one volunteered. I couldn’t take it and refuted her figures and testified to the personal satisfaction.

Royce to clean. After 2 years she still can’t get the windows out to wash them. Set out snaps and dug hosta for Plant Exchange at Town & Country Garden Club meeting at Elizabeth Jester’s. 50th anniversary. Took corsages for Edna Jennings, Hazel Sonenstein and Fauss Holley. Charter members.

Kass asked me to come to shop. Norma won’t be back next week. No one else ever had a week off with a D&C! A slowdown on her part in retaliation for forcing Linda out. Mary Waggle also wanted to talk with me. Norma home from hospital yesterday and called her at 10:00 and talked for an hour- can’t get along without Linda helping to file. Kass found Faith Evanoski to work 4 days. She does bookkeeping for her husband.

Dave at Dick Cooper’s. Home at 6:00. Had cube steak, boiled potatoes, steamed ferns, rhubarb. Watched TV.

Total rain 2″ Needed so badly. No corn up when I went to Quest Club guest day luncheon but when I came home there were three fields with rows showing.

To Bob Stout’s office to pick up land contract. Then to shop to get plants ordered from Reese’s Sunbury. $80 including $30 for Garden Forum and Town & Country Civic plannings. Dave had picked up some of them for me. He was in bed sleeping when I got home. Has been building scenery for prom.

I went down to The Toggery to tell them he wouldn’t need tuxedo ordered but couldn’t get $10 refund back. Shopped at Penney’s- got two new style sweaters $20 to $22, blouse $24 and two pair bendover pants on sale $11.50. Also got navy and white dress $31 and sweater $44 at Bentz.
