Letter to Uncle Allen. His 90th birthday February 9th. Also got letter and clippings off to Kathi and David. Sent Allen a check for $100 toward the Sheneman Genealogy and told him it’s time to close out the Hildreth Book checking account. have sold 83 books and given away 14, not including 60 that he and I took (30 each) originally. Have about 80 books left.

Watching Peter the Great miniseries on TV.

Dave sick a.m. to school at noon but went skiing.

Sunday, February 2, 1986
Fanny and Floyd with Carl and Maxine Wright stopped by unexpectedly. Asked them to stay for waffle supper. Called Mary and she and Ken came out with their waffle iron and bacon to supplement my sausage. Found I had no eggs so called Lucille Creighton as Dave was there and asked to borrow some and asked Dave & Angelita to bring them and eat with us. Dave demanded $4 in gasoline money to do this favor for me! After I furnish him a car with no expense to him except gas. How can he be so ungrateful.

Saturday, February 1, 1986
To Center at 1:00 to meet with Publications Committee to decide to recommend to MCHS board that MCHS published the Mosher’s book “After 40 Years.” Then to Hemmerly’s to meet Ruth Mosher to finish copying that manuscript- 4 copies for them.

Met Mary, Ken and Dave at Isaly’s for supper. Bernard Brooks and Bette in next booth. He’s retiring as Harding printer teacher. Wrote David and Kathi same letter. Dave home early a.m.

Willis Thomas had grandiose display of all sorts of Indian tools, handicrafts and art and had two changes of costume and friend and Son helping him for program for MCHS. Over 125 there. Usually about 50 or 60.

Met Mary and Ken at 6:00 for supper at Perkins.

Wednesday, January 29, 1986
Kass called to tell me that Faith Evanoski found that the payroll program had to be altered to change the percentage of Social Security withheld. Change made with November 1st payroll which was when Norma told us she was resigning. Kass also found that tax reports for unemployment and workman’s comp and not been filed. How can Norma live with herself!? This is deliberate sabotage against her employer.

Tuesday, January 28, 1986
Was at Chamber of Commerce about noon when I heard that space shuttle Challenger had blown up 2 minutes after launch. Christa McAuliffe teacher and civilian among seven killed. Everyone’s stunned. After 55 manned missions! Dave called from school to share his reaction. Glued to TV when he came home for any news and demonstrated me sequence of explosion with his model of shuttle and boosters.

Teeth cleaned at 10:00 first visit to Dr. M. Cloran who has taken Dr. Vornholt’s practice. My dentist since 1955.

Cold! but roads not too bad for trip to Columbus for OAHSM board meeting- 18 members made it but not Bill Nolan. Steve White presided nicely- asked him for estimate on Mosher’s Scioto Ordinance Plant book.
Came home directly after meeting. Stopped in Delaware for 1819 land records before Marion County organized. Found little except Eber Baker’s 2 purchases- Kilborne and Holmes.

Called David to wish him happy birthday. Had sent him $50 and gave him a copy of Lake Wobegon Days. He gave me a copy for my birthday.
