Letter from Pat Dugan of Canton enclosing Jeff Brown’s membership card for OAHSM. He’s miffed because his Myers Lake Revisited has not won award in two tries. Pat says he did editing on Larry Nelson’s book that did win. Called Larry and he offered to bring his manuscript and compare it page by page. Pat resigned from Awards committee!

Transplanted Silene regia to outdoor bed at greenhouse door and planted seeds of schizanthus verbascum and worked on Day Before Yesterday.

Using the Manual of the Marion City schools that Jane Myers gave me. I wrote my Day Before Yesterday, between 10:30 and 3:00 p.m.

Called Erma Hutchman about 11:00 and invited her and Bill for supper. They came at 5:00 and we toured the grounds. They helped me carry plants into the greenhouse as it may frost before I get back from Western trip. Had pot roast, salad and apple pie.

Nice evening of talk. Bill gave me suggestions on preserving Claridon Prairie herbarium specimens.

Jane Myers called saying Everett Smith had given her a manual of the Marion Public Schools 1896. Stopped by to pick it up. Their home site on Arbor Lane hand-picked 20 years ago is delightful. Manual so interesting. For MCHS archives.

To genealogy meeting to take over $100 for Tombstone Inscription Books sold at Hemmerly’s. Boring as usual but Maxine Marshall gave me 35 Marion old time postcards for MCHS from Mary Casad- San Diego.

David and I in to shop to work on payroll. Ruth Mosher in with her computer to have David look at program Typestar- he agrees it is impossible. We have to have a layout sheet from Steve White.

Cook out for lunch and just after eating Sarah came in saying Howard was lying down on a hill and wanted David to come help him. He had been there 2 hours! But not hurt not even broken glasses.

Made wreath and took to Mary Jordan for birthday.
