Worked 11:00 to 5:00 on Chapter 16- closing Marion Engineer Depot. Took it in to Moshers and we discussed parts that they thought were in manuscript but weren’t. Gave me letter from a POW sent to them recently.

Monday, January 12, 1987
Call from Kathi about 2:30- Kristy has been accepted at the Air Force Academy! They had a call from the Senator’s office in Las Vegas. We were all crying. Bob said he expects she will also receive one from the Naval Academy!

Up at 6:00 and worked 12 hours on Part II – Marion Engineer Depot. Gave up at 11:30 not quite finished. Call from Ralph Hedges- he will be out tomorrow to see about fixing rec room ceiling.

1″ snow- very mild winter so far. Highs in the 30s lows in the 30s.

To Caledonia post office and send disks to Steve by Express Mail $10.75. Also sent Pat Cummins Awards material for OAHSM- $3.15.
Worked rest of the day on Marion Engineer Depot while Royce cleaned.

Thursday, January 8, 1987
The Moshers here at 12:30 to meet with Steve White at 1:00. Prepared to pull out of ICP but he beat me to it. IC Press has been merged with another company and the president Steve with worked with fired! So Steve will freelance- matching client to printer. He says we can have book my March! Good thing I hadn’t sent disks to ICP. Steve wanted $3,000 down on the book! I said not until we had a contract and then only $2,000. He said okay and would contact us first of week. Moshers agreed. All left by 3:00 and I went into shop at 6:00 and transferred CP/M files on Shop computers to MS-DOS- no problem. Called David to tell him I did it. Met Mary for supper.

Wednesday, January 7, 1987
What a day! Computer quit while I was talking to Mike Ransom from Intercollegiate Press [ICP], Kansas City Missouri. He was just checking! Had not talked to Steve White (Steve said Thursday he was the other line!) Said could not have book by March 1st- paste up takes a month! And printing a month- had to have it all at one time.
Computer and external video both blank. Went to shop but couldn’t get into WordStar with my file on their MS-DOS machine. To Center and picked up my Osborne I I gave them. Home and before switching computers checked outlets and noticed reset button. That fixed it! Finished bird count story and Mary came out to take it to the Star.
