Trella Hemmerly – 1987-03-07

Saturday, March 7, 1987 70° sunny
Made chicken casserole and meatloaf for Howard while Mary and I are in Pennsylvania. Told him this morning I would be gone 4 days. He took it pretty well. Took him shopping at Reece’s while I picked up Bicentennial posters at P.O.. Mary out and waited while I got news release ready for 10 surrounding newspapers. She will copy and mail for me. Dave popped in unexpectedly. “So nice, I came home to go canoeing.” – Took walk in woods – some daffs up & one lone winter aconite blooming.

To Waldo at 5:30 with Alexander Berry’s will & Eber Bakier’s plat for Marion County First Family Banquet, Pat Winn, chairman.

Called Steve at 7:30 and got him in person. Said he had just picked up the appendix. Told him he’d have the index tomorrow. He said they are working overtime at Glanz. Made index for appendix and found why page numbers weren’t right my files were more than one page so after 55 records it forced the next page numbers. Lucille Fullerton called saying they had sold their land before Scioto Ordinance Plant but that jogged my mind that the USA sales back needed index. In at 4:30 to mail it and also $2,000 check.

Finished compiling index- not as big a job as I had feared. When it came to sorting it I had to call David and he talked me through it. Too long for sorter command had to go into dBaseII to handle it. Then back to Wordstar in non-document mode to clean it up. A 20-page printout. 1,200 names. Finished about 1:30 a.m.

Woke up to find a stranger in Dave’s bed and him on the davenport. Ken Clark from Alabama also AEF at Great Lakes- nice kid but I was too busy pasting up chapter 4 through 23 to even talk. Met Mary at Michael’s at 6:00 with Dave, Oleta and Ken. They went to Columbus but couldn’t find their kind of action. (mild type!)
To shop to copy my paste-up. Mary helping and she will mail it tomorrow a.m. Steve sent the appendix back for me to rework it.
