Friday, March 13, 1987
Made displays of maps and 15 steps in publishing “After 40 Years”. In to Marion to take labels to Gloria Dickerson to mail notices of Bicentennial committee meeting Wednesday. To shop to copy Bicentennial article from Philadelphia tourist magazine for Charlton Myers. a.m. Bill Nolan called checking on meeting Monday and so did Linda Showalter. Mary Caskey called with info on Alexander Berry descendants that married Millisors.
Took material for Bicentennial to Joan Radwin at 4:30. Mary and Jordan’s pick me up to go to Al’s in Cardington for supper.
Picked up 500 programs for Sunday. Got 25 sheets of gold paper and made more certificates.

Thursday, March 12, 1987 do income tax ha!
Phone calls all morning. In at 2:00 picked up tickets for Fiddler on the Roof at River Valley. Stopped to talk to Jo Greenwood about tours to Philadelphia, Left film at Meijrs and got Poster board and vitamins, to courthouse to pick up list of committees and take book orders to John Cottrell (almost 200 sold), to get cut and blow dry at Styling Salon $11. Met Mary at Denzer’s Funeral Home to call for Gaile Baker, stopped at library and left Walt’s wedding coat for him to wear Sunday, supper at Perkins. To Hemmerly’s to pick up styrofoam for displays and easels. Home and signed 92 certificates for landowners displaced and find we need 10 more.

Wednesday, March 11, 1987 return home
Left at 8:00 and at Terradise at 6:15. Spent one and a half hours in Somerset, Pennsylvania researching Frederick Sheneman land records. Found several 1796 to 1813- must have been when he came to Ohio.
Howard hadn’t eaten all the meatloaf, noodle casserole and Jello I left for him so Mary and I had supper here. 12 calls on my answering machine. Norm Fogt, Charlton Myers, Harry Mauk, Stanley Hord, Oleta.

Trella Hemmerly – 1987-03-10

Tuesday, March 10, 1987 to Philadelphia Flower Show
Two bus loads left Reading for Civic Center in Philadelphia taking about 100 there for the flower show. Arrived at 11:30 and overwhelmed by displays, gardens, arrangements. Mary got sick after waiting 20 minutes to use restroom. While I was in cafeteria line she almost fainted. June got Red Cross aid for her. She recovered with tea and Maalox. I shot three rolls of film. Left at 4:00. Got inspiration for Marion Bicentennial committee, then sponsored tour to Philadelphia for Bicentennial of U.S. constitution. In Reading by 5:30 and stopped for supper before going home.

Monday, March 9, 1987
Shopping at VF Outlet (Vanity Fair). Went wild on underclothes and nightwear- half price. Got gray cuddlers $5 and shoes for $29 and no tax on clothes in Pennsylvania.
Lunch at Chi-chi’s and then to Woolworths. Bought 20 more frames for displaced farmer certificates.
To visit Mrs. Howe and her efficiency apartment in the B’nai Brith Building. View of row houses from her window intriguing. Took her to supper with us and Marilyn and Heidi grown up at 13. Marilyn and Jim are divorcing.

To Ulle’s- Reading Pennsylvania
Left Terradise at 8:15 in Mary’s Cadillac. Route 98 to 23 to I-270 to I-70 to I-76 to Route 222 to Shellington, PA. Temperature 60. Lunch along turnpike outdoors. At June and George’s about 5:30. Good pork roast supper and talk much- “other life” and “paraphysical”. Mary and I rated the twin beds in their bedroom.
Talked about Bob and his death. Nice tribute to him in the Mennonite magazine.
