In to Center at 9:00 for press conference to release new MCHS offer to purchase post office. Took Howard to grocery when I got back. Mowed lawn and bath and dressed in outfit I bought for Dave’s wedding. Hair done at Styling Salon. Bought blue scarf to go with it and at Marsha’s suggestion stopped at Elder-Beerman and bought earrings. To Country Club for Ted Myers reception- he’s retiring. Everybody there. Felger’s from Dublin – He recruited me to teach flower arranging for OSUM. Judy Felger was in the class. Talked to dozens of people including Mame Harmon and new husband. Sat with Charlton and Ruth Myers. Spent evening packing and picking up house. Hope I got everything.

Call from Doris that Mick Wallace died on August 15th- leukemia.
In at 9:30 for called board meeting of MCHS. 12 board members and three acquisition committee members there. Voted unanimously to make an offer for post office to real estate division of US Postal Service. Even Charlton Myers- then he pledged $500 toward down payment. George Brown pledged $5,000 and with my thousand the total was almost $9,000. Fantastic! Spent rest of the day at Center working on newsletter. Margaret Cottrell helped. Called Mary in too and when Norm Fogt stopped by used him also. Got to new post office where driveway was flooded at 4:50. Supper with Mary at Rax. Shopped at Big Bear and home exhausted.

Called Ruth Mosher to set it up. Had to scrap newsletter and wrote front page article about offers. Also prepared material recapping feasibility study for board members. Had call from Lois Nicolosi asking me to host tour to Holland in 1989 for her travel agency! Distributed Recaps to some who couldn’t reach by phone and stopped briefly at Fall Fair meeting.

Didn’t go to State Fair to see Susannah in the style show. This is Karen’s 33rd year to exhibit there.
Worked on Huber letter to members for additions to Articles of Incorporation. Called Secretary of State’s office for info.
Watering Terrace beds again. Took cuttings of impatiens and put into perlite with Rootone.
To Edward Huber Memorial Association at 7:00. No one with key to Center there and Ruth Mosher has mine so I had meeting at Hemmerly’s. Willis Nye’s resignation from board accepted- Health reasons. John Watkins no handle on things. Didn’t even bring the agenda I prepared.
