Royce here to clean. David called asking me to pick up computer at Ballingers [in Richwood] that he had just installed yesterday and bring it to Cincinnati SRC dealer and then return it to Ballinger’s. Left at 12:00 but when I got to Richwood call from David saying SRC didn’t have the board to replace on hand so I came back home.
Couldn’t get into anything so rested. Too cold to mow leaves. Color gorgeous- Oaks and Maples
Three whales trapped in ice at Barrow Alaska (-20° there) are upstaging political campaign news. Bush ahead in polls.

Rolls and coffee in lobby as we did each morning at Days Inn. $157 for three nights. Off turnpike around Bedford along part of Forbes Road Route 30. Home via I-71 to 270 and Route 23- 7 minutes longer than taking 95, 37, 161 to 71 at Granville, but easier on driver- more freeway. Stopped at Denny’s north of Delaware for supper- sure not like Reading’s Denny’s.

At my suggestion boys visited Mrs. Howe A.M. rather than surprise her at the party tonight.
June, Mary and I shopped at VF outlet. Gobs of people. Got undershirts and nightgown there and a picnic basket and white dish at Reading Crystal and China outlet. Back to apartment for hoagie sandwiches and then to Recreation Center to set up for party. June, Mary and I moved 20 8 ft tables and chairs that were piled on them before we could start putting things out. About 70 people there when Deb and John brought Mrs Howe in. Her eyes lit up when she saw Marvin. He drove from northern Michigan and took her home- left Sunday a.m.

Mary and I off for Reading Pennsylvania in her car at 7:20. She had cheese and crackers and coffee packed so made the trip in 9 hours arriving at Days Inn motel in Shellington at 4:15. 70 mi. on over to June’s. George’s brother, Miller, died of ALS and was buried Monday and they really needed someone to talk with as they didn’t discuss it with friends.
Supper at Deluxe Restaurant right at our motel. Back to Ulle’s apartment. George picked up son ____ from Boston who brought with him Marvin’s grandson _____. Came by bus so both could be there for grandmother Charlotte Howe’s 90th birthday.
