David called- will be up next week. Windy, cloudy High 43°
Cold house when I woke up- 60°. That noise I heard last night was the motor freezing Jim Peacock said. He was here by 11:00 to fix it. Replaced motor and leaking relief valve. Took until evening to get house to 70°.
Worked all morning on my remarks and outline for conducting annual meeting. Returned John Briley call and he will be awards chairman. Richard Frankaviglia called and said membership brochure is delivered.
Made chicken and noodles and dressing and baked pumpkin pie. Swept leaves off porch and walk and picked up some all around the house. Nice card and letter from Kathi and $25 check- will use on personal ancestral file program.

Took a day for myself! Washed windows in TV room. Took Howard to Caledonia and went into May’s Hardware and bought a three-step ladder $13 and 4-gallon tub $8
At 1:30 went to Caledonia Cemetery for Irene Howser service. Spoke to Robin, Jim’s wife and Barbara. Drove along Claridon Prairie and collected seed. To Krogers shopping $41 including pork chops at 99 cents a pound! had to buy the whole loin. Baked a store pumpkin pie and pizza and invited Mary out to eat. Mowed leaves while it was [illegible] and sowed prairie seed across Road.

To Local History Office by 9:30 for conference with Richard Francoviglia on organizing annual business meeting on November 5th. Saw Beth Langer in hall and she grunted at me. Looked terrible. guess her resignation doesn’t agree with her. Saw Bill Nolan just as I was leaving and he’ll help me with committee appointments along with staff.
Back to Marion for 3:30 tour of post office by members of board getting ready for MCHS tour next Monday. It will be a tremendous undertaking. Met Mary at Turroff’s for supper.

Wrote to Kathi and Bob and sent them a thousand dollars toward their new furniture. Wrote to Kristi and sent her $100 for a microwave oven or a card table set. Also wrote to Tommy and Bev Hemmerly and sent bill for things she got at shop.
Howard had call from Caledonia police. Irene Howser didn’t show up at Senior Citizen Center for bridge club she has charge of. Then police wanted Barb’s address. Later Catherine Landes called to say the police broke into house and found Irene dead in bed.
Met Mary and Geneva at Bob Evans for supper.
