I’m bushed! To get ready for men from shop to move bedroom furniture I trotted all over the house, removing drawers, piled up boxes of papers, small items etc. Men came at 3:15 and moved my double bed and dresser to guest room, took down antique bed and stored in attic- side rail, hardware broken, moved Empire Chest from living room to my room, set up Jenny Lind 3/4 bed and found springs and mattress from other antique bed wouldn’t fit it.

River freezing High 27°
Sorted clothes in all closets, finally storing clothes from the 1950s and ’60s in the attic! Washed and mended blouses. sweaters, coats.
Richard Francaviglia- called did not get funding from Ohio History Center for the Vision of Memory- Henry Howe revisits Ohio. He and Jane agreed to Constitution-bylaws concept. Sorted by-laws material from computer files and made a printout to work from.
Mary out and we played with the doll from the attic. The outfit I bought in Powell yesterday fits great. It is a talking doll. But we couldn’t find out how to shut her up except to remove a battery.

Earthquake in Armenia 50,000 to 70,000 dead.
Mailed two packages to Kathi- one Christmas and one with slacks.
Planned my annual Christmas outing with my best friends for today. Picked up Helen Romine and met Mary Hecker and Mary Jordan and Erma Hutchman. Took Bill a bouquet of yellow roses I rescued from Hemmerly’s trash can. To Ohio Village for lunch. Ham and potato pie- delicious. Then toured The Village shops. Back to Worthington to tour the Orange Johnson House. Also took Jane Trucksis some roses for the privilege. Then to Powell and bought doll clothes for Susannah. Back in to Columbus to view lights. DeSantis house and driveway impressive! Also state house and City hall. Every place white lights used. Home about 8:00.

Mary and I went to Upper Sandusky for Lydia Deyson’s funeral memorial but it is not until Thursday- paper had it wrong. To courthouse to see Loren Baker’s will- estate of about $550,000. Left $75,000 to Forest Methodist Church as Memorial to Mary Baker. $100,000 income from to Jesse. Attorney got $25,000 State of Ohio $12,000 and rest to his nieces and nephews.
Also researched Hemmerly land records- confusing! Still can’t figure out why Frances died and Daddy was born in Richland Township. Home and packed Christmas Box for Kathi and Bob and Mary brought hers out too and a pizza. Helped me put 150 lights on juniper tree near road. Dave called. He paid his $400 car insurance.

Call from person seeking picture of Harding’s boyhood home in Caledonia. Wants to purchase and restore. In at 10:00 to meet Willis and Wanda Nye at Huber Museum to hang pictures. I suggested they be grouped by subject. Lunched at Smorgasbord. Met Nye’s friend Peter Bauer- emigrant from Germany after World War II age 91. To Scantland Communications to select Distinguished Citizens of 1988- three of those I nominated were selected. Christmas shopped. Home for supper. In to Palace for Philippines- Walsh very good. Made me homesick.
