Royce cleaned while I updated Huber and MCHS databases and wrote announcement letters for open house (MCHS) and annual meeting (Huber). In at 3:30 to Heritage Hall to run Huber letter. Several phone calls while there. Took MCHS open house announcements to Quick Print and ordered 600 copies.
Picked Mary up and went to Ponderosa for dinner. Had trout- so good. Then to Sears and check on dustbuster didn’t buy Sears. Took her home and in to look at lamp she had in attic to replace my ‘Gone with the Wind’ that has broken shade. Also gave me an oak splint basket that had been Kenny’s.
Trailer park boys over and shoveled upper driveway. Gave them each a dollar and a bag of Campbell’s candy. About four more inches of snow.

Partly sunny low 6 high 16 degrees
David to Shelby early- trying to cinch sale of SBT Accounting Software. Made pancakes for breakfast- Kids on river for a while but they needed David to show them how to play. Lunch of chicken casserole and fruit salad and by 2:00 they had packed up and left for Cincinnati so kids could deliver papers.
So tired I took a nap.

Monday, December 25, 1989
Howard wished me Merry Christmas with a check for $1,000 to help with the expenses of roof and pump and kitchen.
Cleaned and cooked. Mary here at 2:00 and helped by setting table- cleaning vegetables.
David and family arrived about 3:00 kids and David put skates on and down to river which is deeply frozen.
Kids just learning and had more fun on sled- I think.
Dinner of ham, scalloped oysters, broccoli and cheese sauce, cranberries, sweet potatoes. Mary brought pumpkin pie that we had after opening gifts. David gave me printer ribbons, a mouse for computer, 2 programs to evaluate ‘Tax Wise’ and ‘Publish-it Light’, 2 Edward Abbey books- Beyond the Wall and [blank]. Josh gave me black ceramic bathtub soap dish other kids gave me kitchen towels. Mary gave them all Totes socks. I gave bricks for Heritage Hall. 2 to Haldemans one to Terradise Computer Systems. One to Hemmerly’s..
Watched the video David got his family- ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. David led Mary into Marion because of her poor eye vision. Kathi called. spending day with Sims. Kristi there too.

Wrapped Hldeman’s gifts. Boxes with puzzle will lead them to gift of kitchen floor. To Mary’s at 5:30 for pizza. She gave me battery clock radio & pin made from Grandma Sheneman’s button. To Trinity for families singing. To Gary Barnhart’s. Home by 10:00.

Breakfast with David before he left for Shelby- business call. Took streets and roads to shop and put in folders making corrections that David didn’t have.
Then to Heritage Hall. Sold bricks and brought database up to date. 411 Bricks sold..
Chili and chocolate at Wendy’s with Kathy. Zero when I got home. Watched news in Rec room, printed out brick purchase list. Bed early.

Wednesday, December 20, 1989
Woke up to report of US troops in Panama defending intervention rights of Panamanians against dictator Noriega. He had declared war on USA yesterday.
Catch-up morning sorting things, cleaning up computer files, preparing disc of MCHS forms for David to run through Ventura publishing.
In to Heritage Hall at 3:30 for picture of MCHS members on steps of Heritage Hall. All but Charlie and I thought it was for NewsLife year-end issue. But it’s for MCHS citizens of the year.
Met Margaret Perkins. They are giving their entire sales money of today to Salvation Army.
Shopped at Meijer’s- $50. Got things in stationery department for David’s family. $50. Christmas food at Big Bear $54. David be here about 10:00 with streets and Roads revised and printed out for deliveries. Brick sales over 400.

7:00 to 10:00 3 hours volunteer high 22°
Dave’s 22nd birthday.
Spent morning wrapping presents and picking boxes for Dave and Dee and Kathi, Bob and Kristi. Electric screwdriver, Heritage Hall bricks, checks, chocolate candy, sweaters, hints book, whisk broom, Howard’s basket, Campbell’s, Life Magazine ‘69 Oil strike in Alaska.
Took to Mary’s for help in sealing them and then to UPS $6.02 for each to Chula Vista and Reno. Supper at Bob Evans- mush and sausage. Home to relax. Ralph Garverick called me from Chillicothe asking me to speak on Main Street. Told him I’m not qualified- call Marion Chamber of Commerce
To 3-hour board meeting. Signage dispute with George Brown resolved by two signs for 2 years in meantime design a lighted one featuring both. Motions on interim disposal and proceeds from sale of 255 South Main. -Buy parking lot. -Pay on mortgage. But ultimately into Heritage Preservation Endowment Fund. Charlie Evers still fumbling committees. Popcorn and tv.
