Sunday, July 26, 1953
Hot, Trella fine; helped her with breakfast; tried to get Sandra Jean (not up) took off for Acres; Cleaned up kitchen, washed on base-shopes, closets, etc. Hemmerly’s & Rockwells & kids out to help clean windows; nice picnic lunch. Paris, Snyders etc. To Hospital with Sandra Jean tonite, back with Iced Tea & fan for later. Sandra Jean some kid these days.

Saturday, July 25, 1953
Trella got help with breakfast again (felt better after it) & Paris & I took off for Acres. (Nickel did chimney a.m. & we painted living room 1st coat, 1 kitchen closets, bathroom ceiling again, fished 1 1/2 hr! Saw saw Trella about 7 – much brighter; up some!! Grocery tonite, home to stay.

Friday, July 24, 1953
She’s better! Helped Trella eat her breakfast; got Paris & Dad & Paris’ car – we painted, finishing kids rooms & a hall closet! Ran all around tonite; including 3 trips to hospital- whew! Turning off a bit, too. Supper at Harold & Mary’s. Paid Jim Weaver $3,000. Trella pretty good tonite.

Thursday, July 23, 1953
(Trella in HOSPITAL) = Dodge a wreck, but Trella doing well. I pray, with a badly lacerated hand (1 hr 10 minutes in surgery). Spent almost all day there. Home about 11. Paris wonderful- everyone else too. (Westwood selling? We signed contract at Hospital)

[Trella was in a car accident at the corner of Brocklesby Road and Williamsport Road. The corn had grown enough that the view was blocked, and there were no stops signs at that time. Her car was nicked on the rear end, sending her rolling over three times. The glass pop bottles in the rear seat broke, cutting her hand – she retained those scars the rest of her life, and could not close her fist. Otherwise, she was unhurt, but learned to stop at those intersections for a long time afterward]

Wednesday, July 22, 1953
RAIN – Some, & then some. Got soaked. Poohed tonite- bed 1 1/2 hrs. Ireland has 954 sold?? To Harold & Mary’s tonite.

Tuesday, July 21, 1953
Hotter? but didn’t mind as much. To farm right after work (Trella’d been) & we painted hall, including between new bookcase shelves. Home 11! (Supper in Doney*) Dad & Fetter fishin’ pm into evening; Paris & family dropped by after we got home.

Hot & Humid. Done at noon (poohed) but better later. Tonite, to Acres- cleaned attic mortar crap & stuff out. VIsitors— Webbs & Carol Lockwoods. Trella had wedding customers at nine. Bed early.

Sandy & I (while Trella did 2 weddings) painted the kitchen at Acres, ceiling and walls. Trella helping evening before supper, which was picnic. (Sandy & I at Caledonia “Holly’s” for lunch.) Boat rides, fun. Home about 10?

Saturday, July 18, 1953
Rain!! lots of it – got really wet, too. Headache, fierce, tonite- in bed about all evening. Trella & I showed Westwood, nice rent, nice buy, today. Trella worked on wedding tonite; kids to show with Harold & Mary. They brought our yard lamp (wedding present)

Friday, July 17, 1953
($148.34) Hot – poohed. Nap tonite & I loaded entire (set) collection of cases into truck & moved bugs to Acres! Trella went all, “Rez’d doors, etc. I just base-shoe down, our room. Trella & Augs painted pm. Paris a.m. too- kitchen sealer. Trella cleaned house early eve (here).
