Mary & Rocky out in evening with letter from Forrest. Not coming. Ray about same but I helped him bathe. He’s eating eggnogs only.

[Trella Handwriting] Sandy & Paris In- Sany will stay at Hall. House all cleaned for Forrest & Mary Sheneman but they didn’t arrive. Mary Jordan & Nancy brought sweetpeas. Cooper, Chapman & Boger finished trimming for phone line- cut 2 locust by lower drive & phone co. put lines into houses from poles. Mothed.*

Made painful trip to ‘Doney p.m., Trella & I & Dr. not in! Later p.m. we had Catherine & new husband (Ogg) & Paris, Mrs. Prichard & Mrs. Peterson; & Herm Ahrens & family(!) & Ruth Howard. Nice vist with Herm. Sandy here tonite- has chance go back to Kette-Torrance.

Trella home all day! Rocky & Mary, Hemmerlys, Nickels, John Staffords, Sandy, Paris & Helen here all told. Rather a lousy day – pain bad at times. Trella got last of Iris seedlings [shorthand]

Wrote 2 letters again; a few pomes out. Bed most o’p.m., but better than yesterday. Ray Hemmerly did 3 plumbing jobs for us. Trella in for [shorthand], & to give talk too, tonite. She looked so pretty & healthy — & happy. Staffords, Fails, Paris, Sandra Jean & Ruby, Charles Elicker here tonite.

Wrote 2 letters, felt fine a.m. but walked to Iris garden (where Trella was plowing Gardeneer) & guess ’twas too much. Spent all p.m. & most o’evening in bed – sleepin’. Eating fairly well.

Finally real improvement? Wrote Baker (by hand) sat at desk to work on stamps & get some pomes out!! Trella in p.m., hair fixed [shorthand]. Paris, Dad ‘n Cora out 6:30: Sandra Jean later. Trella brought 1st morphine tablets & I needed ’em tonite!
