Madge Guthery and Eula Watts came in as I was leaving, but they only stayed a few minutes.
To see Judge Charlton Myers. When his three daughters were there on a Monday I knew he was nearing the end. I took some Civil War letters of Lucius Carhart & read parts to him. Also working for the plaque honoring him for his library & proceeds from Tales of Sage of Salt Rock for equipment. He had ready to give to me for MCHS an envelope with 2 (1/2 lb. each) keys to the 1833-84 Marion Courthouse. Told him about marker we are putting up on Radnor Road for 1812 Blockhouse. He remarked that also nearby was a child’s grave. Nothing wrong with his memory. He was referring to Ashbaugh girl. Then he said he had something he wanted to tell me. That he would no longer bhe taking the shots for ___ (he couldn’t remember dialysis until I suppled the word for him). But when we talked about his reading Declaration of Indepence on Fourth of July he said ‘I sure will’ Th en later he asked me how many times (3 times a week) he would have to take them to live until then I could have very easily broken into tears. When I told his girls they said it was out of his decision because his blood pressure is so low the veins won’t carry the load – Sad day.
