Up at 7:30. After feeding birds, breakfast, bath I copied the Terradise Brochure listing trees and native plants. Rearranged the soaker hose on newly seeded grass areas but water only ran a few minutes until well was dry.
Jim Carpenter came at 11:00 – I drove & he put up the Garden Tour signs at the usual corners & a couple of Terradise Nature Preserve. Dave Matyak came bearing gifts – a bale of peat moss that he hauled & stowed under potting bench and asparagus spears from his garden and a loaf of homemade bread – from Amish Auction. Opal & Kensel Klutter also brought a big bag of asparagus – their usual gift at the Garden Tour. Gale came from her visit to her son James & bride Renee in Michigan. Several groups of kids with a copy of the poster I had distributed. Their teacher instructed them to get my autograph on it as proof of visit. John & Ruth Ann Peacock chat (I spent most of the time in the gazebo.) he had twig of crab apple with a catacala larva. Also showed me the tiny eggs He collected them in the Fla panhandle! Karen and Kelly Killy & Mary Donaldson. She told me huge hackberry tree by the shelter house has a crack. May be able to save it by removing the one side. Talked to Jack Shaffer & he will accept MCHS Board position.
