Shoes are everywhere;
Desperation haunts the clerk;
Father tears his hair.
Everyone is all distraught;
Everything’s undone.
When mother finally gets a fit,
Father’s had him one.

Clearance Sales engulf me,
And Super Sales abound;
Although I save on every one,
My dough won’t reach around.
When truly Whopping Specials
Have me in their clutch,
I sometimes think that 1/3 off
Still leaves a bit too much!

Aren’t much for effacement,
Give them credit; they often
Hold sales in abasement.

Sales-folk must use their tact again
To hold at, say, non-hoarding distance
The customer’s own sales-insistence.
