Yowl From The Small Minority

The man is now Iranian
Who used to be a Persian.
I wonder what he’s ganian
With his reconversion?

And some wild Mesopotamian
With harems by the block
Said “Watch who you’re defamian
For 1 am from Iraq.”

Then some Big Shot, once Siamese
From that old do-or-die land
Pleads with his neighbors, on his knees,
To call his country Thailand.

Beware, though, all you foreign folk!
I’ll kick him in the slats
Who calls, in his attempt to joke,
Americans Democrats.

Youdunit!

When things aren’t going well, you
May find it natural to
Blame Congress, and
While a bit underhand,
It’s a fad now, since Presidents do!

Vote Note

Sing a song of Politics ,
A pocket full of votes;
I ‘m getting fed on promises
And very tired of quotes.

Soon the radio will cease
Its loud vituperation ,
And papers look around for NEWS
To feed the population.

Though windy politicians won’t
Be half what you’ve expected,
Wearily two kinds hang on:
Elected–and Dejected.

Uppermost

Question 1:
Who will run
In Fifty,two?
Question 2:
Who’ll it be?
Questions 3,
4, 5, and 6
Are still wrapped up in politics .
(One can but wonder, if he’s human,
Just who will joust next year with Truman.)

“New Zealand scientists and engineers are applying lessons learned
from Italian geothermal work to harness heat from underground
steam.”
… News item

One knows, after sober reflection,
Those scientists missed a connection.
If unharnessed steam
Is their means toward a dream,
Too bad they by-passed our election.
