Head Peace

The man with the twenty- five dollar fedora
Has it sat upon soundly by some dumb Dora.

Or the guy with the chapeau worth many a buck
Sees it blown off and pressed by a passing truck.

Whose top-piece came from the ritzy hatter
Finds it deluged with chewing gum, soup and batter.

It’s always the really exclusive lid
That’s seen by some eagle-eyed snowballing kid.

Hernce I wear my own hat with the jaunty assurance
That the price tag inside is its greatest insurance.

He- Man Confession

Upon the eve of that Big Day
Our game with State is fought,
This little sniffle that I have
Is hardly worth a thought.

But should my wife say “Shopping”,
I admit I am the kind
Who takes him and his outsize cold
To bed, if you dode bind.

He Was Here A Minute Ago

While controversy rages
And arguments abound,
So long as I’m delivering
I love to stick around.

But should the tide of battle
Turn, and I’m receiving,
It’s then you’re apt to see me
Use the door for leaving.

Before you brand me coward,
And from invitations strike me,
I beg you to recall the
Million others like me

Who, while Quite unproud of
Being back-door users,
Can, by dodging swiftly,
Keep from being losers.
