To A Home-movie Addict

Blind me with light; push me here, pull me there;
Order me happy or frowned.
I have the patience with something to spare–
If you’li show ’em when I’m not around!

Thriller a La Hollywood

Leers and gasps and knowing looks;
Cops that dillydally;
Various kinds of hooded crooks
Stabbed in every alley.

One more trying ticklish time;
Things are taking shape;
One more heinous, baffling crime
On the fire-escape.

They tried so hard to make it creepy-
I am ashamed to be so sleepy.

Near Miss

I find, as I watch one they previewed like this:
“HERE IS THE MOVIE YOU CANNOT MISS!”
I certainly not only could’ve,
I should’ve.

Movie-broken

Thoush TV’s fine,
We miss the wags
Whose too-long laughter
Spoils the gags;

Also the guy
Who buys his lunch-
His paper’s rattle;
His popcorn’s crunch.

And where are all
The little boys
Who shout down Westerns
With their noise?

Drop in, dear friends.
Let’s dash and phone
And pop some corn–
We’re movie-lonesome!

Horror Picture

When I turn on my TV set
I bellow, “Shut the door!
For I just saw a monster
Who looked like Garry Moore!”
I take me to the movies, but
The same weird image flickers.
I guess the one thing left to do
Is change to pop from liquors!

Flicker Kicker

As you’ve possibly detected,
Movies have slipped; last night’s thriller
Found the guy whom I suspected
Turning out to be the killer.
