MCHS Fall Fair 3 ½
Ault here & trimmed low hanging branches on White Oak in center of lawn.
Worked on cards for Horticulture Show for each class – in WordStar until time to go to WMRN for interview on Morning Magazine with Terry. Then to Mary’s to ask her to go see Fanny Baker at Fairhaven in Upper Sandusky. Just felt compelled to talk with her before her sale Saturday – selling house, farm & all her possessions she hasn’t disposed of.
Found her in good spirits & using a walker – but much “brighter” than when we saw her early spring. She moved to Fairhaven last of June. She readlly unloaded all her deeply hidden feelings about Marty-Loren-Jessie. On the surface they all seemed congenial- travelled together, etc. But Fanny’s resentment of Loren taking over Mary’s estate, abusing Mary, & Jessie’s running after Loren – & then her getting Loren’s estate – life interest – & especially Loren putting his name in place of H. O. Baker on barn. She thanked us for letting her unload. Got Mary back in time to go to dinner with Walt & OPlgua – I tool Eber Baker beans to Heritage Hall for girls to bag up & picked up TV – $63.

MCHS 3 hrs – Fall Fair Program
Royce here to clean while I put finishing touches on the Fall Fair Program. She helped me round up the bags of papers in garage & I persuaded Howard to clean up his basement room of crumpled newspaper & cereal boxes & we took bags across the road & burned them between showers.
Too program to Boy Scout Office & Wayne Fowler ran off 500 copies for us for $15. Took them to Heritage Hall for volunteers to fold. Stopped at Kroger’s for more beans & baggies – Bought little else as I’m really broke until October 1 from paying landscaping bill. Took Fall Fair News story to Star. Left trash off at Hemmerly’s – also poster for Fall Fair & programs. Dropped plastic bottles off at Senior Center.
Kathi called about 3:00. Kristi home for funeral of Doug – her date when she graduated. Killed on motorcycle on Geiger Grade.
Washed 3 loads tonight – Had run out of detergent until I shopped.

MCHS 3 hrs Board Meeting
“Tater” Auld here with his huge stump remover. Took Howard to Reece’s Grocery & left Poster & Horticulture Scheduler. When I got home decided to pull out the 30” Crackerjack Marigolds – (Don’t grow again). That led to cleaning out greenhouse, mixing soil for repotting – repotting. Discovered that wooden sills that glass rests on has rotted in several places under the aluminum coating strips.
Worked solidly until 3:30. Bath &* rested until Trailer Kid rang bell to get permission to get leaves for school project. Just before I left for Marion 2 of them stopped by & I ask them to fill in holes that “Tater” left – about 5’ wide by 2’ deep! They did a good job.
Picked up chili & frostie at Wendy’s & ate at Heritage Hall before Board Meeting. Jack there after 6 weeks off – viral infection of heart. Sept. 11 Judith Kitchen & Sandy Davies were are Heritage Hall & told Jack they would not OK moving the pediment over the stamp windows in the lobby – That’s what I told him 6 mo. ago & pleaded with him not to submit it that way. No acknowledgment to me publicly or privately. Also he made big fuss over setting up the Victorian Parlor in atrium (that all of us wanted) & having the Time & Again exhibit up.

Ray Foertsch came to stain railings steps & timbers along brick walks. I got the wrong shade of green bu it will probably fade.
Left for Worthington for Exec Committee OAHSM – stopped in Ashley & picked up ribbons for Fall Fair. Stopped in Delaware at Buchlers for beans for Eber Baker beans mix.
Meeting at Worthington LIbrary instead of OHS because of Road work on I-71.
Bill Nolan nominated to replace John Briley who resigned. Annual Meeting Program designed by Jane Trucksis – looks great – LHO got grant for seminars in May & June throughout state.
Home about 4:30 – Again thru Ashley as that seems an easy way to Cols – Rts 746-42-23.
In to Heritage Hall for EHMA Bd meeting – positive reaction to purchasing Sens – Old Servex Bldg on N. Prospect by overpass. Charlie offered it at $100,000 including interest – pay $10,000 a year.
News that Wanda Nye had heart attack last Wed but is in transition care as of today.

Matt McCoy out with his statement for landscaping. With $201 allowance for unused brick & 270 hrs labor he came up with $9,9090 – (to keep under his $10,000 bid & my $10,000 limit.) Knowing I would be short I asked Howard if he would like to chip in – so he gave me a check for $3,000 + $2,000 already + $2,500 from my Boston Co. Money Market + $1,250 from Romine Rentals + Bal from my checking acct. But I’m broke for rest of month.
